Every- thing I’ve done when it comes to this science has been a team effort. You have also spoken about how collaborative the scienti c community and industry have been through the research process in Sudbury – can you elaborate?I think it’s important that people understand how important this discov- ery was in terms of it being a lot of co- operation between science and indus- try. There were so many people, and so much partnership with Canadian industry that meant the science could happen. It was signi cant that we were able to do lower cost science “at home” in Canada (so to speak) on work that is now recognized around the world. It’s important to understand how this will stimulate the next generation of scien- tists. So Canadians need to know that our scienti c community is thriving, and the next generation can do great things in science without leaving the country – what about research and de- velopment in industry? There has been very successful re- search and development activity at the academic level, but where it is needed more is in industry.
