GCP to get a better understanding of
what sets the company apart from its

CIO recently spoke with Gary
Mottershead, President and founder of
GCP Industrial, Nathan Pike, VP and
General Manager, and Craig Motters-
head, Director of Marketing, to gain
insights into GCP’s success.

commitment and future growth.
When the company started, what
market gap was GCP filling?
Gary Mottershead (GM):
I wish I
could say it was a planned and strate-
gic move; the way the company came
to be. The reality was I had started a
company years earlier recycling tires
and sold that business, which left me
with the opportunity for a fresh start.
Although I wasn’t sure what to do
yet, I had done a
little business with
China in my past
and had a great
deal of experi-
ence in polymers
from my earlier
days at DuPont.
