ISSUES IN FOCUS
Regulatory Simplification Survey Results
According to a Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce survey, appoximately 77% of members believe their business is negatively impacted by unneces-
sary regulation or bureaucratic red tape. This unnecessary regulation and red-tape costs businesses time and money, dampening economic growth.
Public-Private Partnership for Infrastructure Investments
Saskatchewan and Canada are facing an infrastructure deficit and public-private partnerships (P3) offer an innovative infrastructure financing and op-
eration model that can help governments better utilize their limited resources by accessing the efficiencies, innovations and expertise offered by private
sector. For the general business community, this means more infrastructure could be available to support the growth of existing enterprises.
Overview of Bridging the Aboriginal Education Gap in Saskatchewan
Educational attainment is lower among Saskatchewan’s Aboriginal population than among non-Aboriginals. This negatively impacts the lifetime earn-
ings of the Aboriginal population and the province’s economy. Bridging the Aboriginal Education Gap in Saskatchewan was written to quantify these
impacts, and the Saskatchewan Chamber has reviewed the report (a three-part report released by University of Saskatchewan economist, Professor Eric
Howe) and written an overview of it.
