Being ac- tive in R&D brings a lot of competitive- ness for Canada.What did the Prize and your re- search do for the local Sudbury com- munity?The achievement indicated to the world that Sudbury is a great place to work and innovate. A majority of our employees at SNOLAB are from Sud- bury and are very talented. Innovation in mining is something that Sudbury is known for but the collaborative activity that has taken place between Vale (for- merly Inco) in Sudbury and SNOLAB is what we can build on for the future: partnership between science and indus- try.What’s next for you now that your research has garnered so much atten- tion? More research?My research is being impacted by the 70 or so requests for speaking in 2016. But I am working on an extension or rehab of the neutrinos project and also working on a project called DEAP. I am continuing to participate in scien- ti c projects.What would you like to empha- size to Canadians about the Nobelrecognition and science in Canada in general?What I would say is that the team effort associated with our project has been a key to its success. That team spirit is continuing in the latest projects that I’m involved in. Finally, the neu- trino research and subsequent recogni- tions have been a triumph for Canadian industry as well as Canadian science.SNOLABSNOLAB is a world-class science facil- ity located deep underground in the oper- ational Vale Creighton nickel mine, near Sudbury, Ontario in Canada.
